A LATE RUBANÉ TOMB AT NEUVILLE-SUR-OISE
"CHEMIN FIN D’OISE" (VAL-D’OISE)

Abstract

During the 2009 excavation of the site of "Chemin Fin d’Oise" at Neuville-sur-Oise (Val-d’Oise), a burial dating to the final Linear pottery period was unearthed on the banks of the Oise. Poorly preserved, it seems nevertheless typical of the period both by the position of the skeleton and by the ornamental shell elements found in the grave. The radiocarbon analysis confirms the Early Neolithic period, 5231-4980 BC. This is the first discovery of this type of burial in Neuville-sur-Oise, but also in the Oise Valley and enriches the still limited corpus of Early Neolithic burials in the area.
