ANCIENT TOP-SOIL AND PLANTING PITS:
Arguments for a pragmatic approach in the urban context:
the example of Meaux (Seine-et-Marne)

Abstract

Recent excavations carried out in Meaux, outside the city walls have revealed a stratigraphical layer that systematically covers the Roman vestiges, interpreted as an ancient soil layer. The same type of layer may have also to have been identified for the Roman period. Two series of plantation pits have also been excavated.
