A BLICQUY-VILLEBEUVE-SAINT-GERMAIN SETTLEMENT
AT CHELLES (SEINE-ET-MARNE), "ZAC LA TUILERIE"

 

Abstract

An early Neolithic settlement, located on a plateau in the lower Marne Valley, was excavated at Chelles "ZAC La Tuilerie" in 2003-2004. The settlement comprises of two houses and several dispersed pits dating to the middle phase of Blicquy-Villeneuve-Saint-Germain. The site is characterised by some original features such as its organisation, with two V section pits located in the settlement itself and the lithic finds that reveal that the site’s complex supply chain of different raw materials, as well as specific artisan activities. The results and the site’s function and status are discussed within a local and regional framework.
