Abstract
In Île-de-France, forests cover 2.600 km² or over 20% of the region. This often-unrecognised heritage retains significant archaeological potential. Since 2008, the State’s Regional Archaeology Service and its partners have been using Lidar to detect remains in "blank zones". Two case-studies illustrate the input of this work: the Ecouen Castle park where a buried icehouse was identified, and the Bois de la Roche woods in the Roche-Guyon regional forest where 800 anomalies were detected, 99,75% previously unknown. This research improves our knowledge of the region and contributes to heritage protection.
